A diverse community, Long Lake is located in west central Hennepin County at
the edge of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area municipal urban service area
on the lake of the same name. The community of 574 acres is fully
developed; however, opportunities for redevelopment and revitalization
continue to grow.The City's challenges lie in
capturing the quality of the lake, retaining its small community atmosphere,
managing limited resources, improving its economic base, solving regional
transportation issues, and protecting residential neighborhoods. For

UTILITIES, GARBAGE & RECYCLING
Just moved to Long Lake? Welcome! With any move it's always
necessary to make many phone calls to set up new utility, phone and cable
services. Please click here for a list of local utility and service

Water, sewer and recycling are provided to
residents by the City of Long Lake. Utility bills are mailed out on a
quarterly basis. To set up or modify your City water, sewer and
recycling account information, please contact City Hall at 952.473.6961.
If you are moving from a Long Lake address, please call to set up a final
meter reading appointment prior to your move. For additional
information regarding the City's water and sewer billing or the City's

GARBAGE - City of Long Lake residents and
businesses independently contract with one of the City's licensed refuse
haulers for garbage service. The link below is the current list of
licensed residential and commercial haulers available to choose from:
RECYCLING - The City of Long Lake contracts with
Waste Management for curbside residential recycling. Please click on
the link below to print a copy of the current residential recycling
schedule. If your pickup is missed on a recycling date, please call

YARD WASTE DISPOSAL -
Long Lake RESIDENTS may use the
City of Plymouth’s yard waste drop-off site at no charge; however, you must
bring identification (MN driver’s license or State ID card) showing your
Long Lake address with you as you will be asked to prove your residency.
Residents must be prepared to debag materials at the yard waste site
themselves. Bags may not be left at the site and must be taken home with
you. Free mulch and compost will be available on a “first come” basis.
The drop off site is located at 14900 23rd Avenue N in Plymouth, and their
phone number is 763.509.5950.
Materials accepted
at the site are spring / fall lawn rakings and thatch, leaves, soft
vegetative garden waste, and tree waste (dirt must be removed from any
roots).
Unacceptable materials
are lumber, sod, soil, and any other items not listed above.

The Plymouth yard waste site opens for the season on the first Saturday in
April, and remains open through the last Sunday in November. The site is
closed on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the season, on major holidays, and
may close for inclement weather if necessary. For

DOG LICENSING
The City of Long Lake requires that all dogs over
the age of six months be licensed. A copy of a certificate of rabies
vaccination must accompany all dog license applications. Click HERE

Parking
No parking is allowed on any city street between the hours of 2:00 am and
6:00 am. Violators will be ticketed.

Fishing Pier at Nelson Lakeside Park
The City of Long Lake partnered with the MnDNR, the LLFD Relief Association,
and the Orono Lions Club to install a fishing pier at Nelson Lakeside Park
in 2002. The pier provides a safe place for anglers to utilize Long
Lake and is available for use during regular park hours from 6:00 am to
10:00 pm.
Canoe Rack at Nelson Lakeside Park
A canoe rack is available for seasonal use at Nelson Lakeside Park.
Residents interested in keeping a canoe in a vacant slip on the rack
beginning late spring through the end of summer may do so at no charge by
contacting City Hall. Residents will need to tell staff which slip
number they will be using, give their name, a phone number where they may be
reached, and the Minnesota registration number of their canoe. Staff
will contact users with any concerns or at the end of the season to request
equipment removal.

The Western Hennepin County Pioneer
Association owns and operates the Pioneer Museum, located on Highway 12 in
