Meeting Information

The Long Lake City Council meets at 6:30 pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month.  Work Sessions are scheduled as needed.  All meetings are held in the Council Chambers at Long Lake City Hall, 450 Virginia Avenue, unless otherwise noted.

The Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission (LMCC) offers live streaming video of City Council meetings on their website at www.lmcc-tv.org/citystream_Long_Lake.html.  Meetings are archived for 12 months.


MEET THE CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

Randy Gilbert, Mayor
Term Expires:  12/2010

Randy is now serving his third term as Mayor for the City of Long Lake.  In past years, Randy has served on the City Council, the Planning Commission, acted as the Planning Commission Liaison for the City Council; and served on the Village Advisory Committee and Pedestrian Safety Task Force.  In addition to his role as Mayor, Randy currently serves on the Economic Development Authority, the Highway 12 Turnback Committee, and the Police Advisory Committee.  Randy received a BA in Accounting from the University of Minnesota Duluth.  His hobbies include hockey, waterskiing, and watching his daughter Ellen participate in her activities.



Brian Carpenter, Council Member / Mayor Pro-Tempore

Brian led a successful campaign for City Council in 2008 and was sworn into office on January 6, 2009.  In his first year on the Council, Brian will be serving on the Economic Development Authority, the Police Advisory Subcommittee, and as the Council member representative on the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission.  He was also appointed to the position of acting Mayor should the Mayor be unavailable. 

 


Sharon Henderson, Council Member

Sharon was successful in her campaign for her first public office, and is very exciting to be serving the community as a member of the Long Lake City Council.  Sharon is a retired RN, has a BA in marketing, and presently sells real estate at Edina Realty.  In addition to her role as a Council member, Sharon serves on the Economic Development Authority, represents Long Lake as a member of the Lake Minnetonka Communications Commission, and serves as a liaison to the recently re-established Park Board on behalf of the Council.  Sharon and her husband Lauren Hoen have lived in Long Lake since 2003 with Teddy Bear, their black cocker spaniel.  They have two grown children, Matthew and Mark (and another member of the family, Mark's wife Betsy).  Sharon enjoys photography, walking, scuba diving, gardening, and flower design.


Sam Rettinger, Council Member
Term Expires:  12/2010

This is Sam's second time serving as a City Council member, and he's warmly welcomed back.  Besides being a member of the Council, Sam also serves on the Police Advisory Committee and as the liaison to the Planning Commission on behalf of the City Council.  No photo is available at this time.


Liz Olson, Council Member
Term Expires:  12/2012

Liz led a successful campaign for City Council in 2008 and was sworn into office on January 6, 2009.  Liz has served on the Council previously.  In her new term as a Council member, she was also appointed to serve on the Economic Development Authority, the Fire Advisory Subcommittee, and as the liaison to the Planning Commission on behalf of the City Council.  No photo is available at this time.
