Economic Development Authority
(EDA)
The Long Lake Economic Development Authority acts as a coordinating body
for economic financing matters for the City of Long Lake. The EDA is
in existence not only to help promote new businesses within the City, but to
also help retain and redevelop City businesses already in existence.
The main goal of the Long Lake EDA is to assist in increasing the amounts
and types of services offered within the City, to help restore blighted
properties and downtown historic buildings by encouraging redevelopment
activities, and to achieve development on sites which would not be feasible
to develop without public assistance. One of the main forms of
assistance utilized by the EDA is Tax Increment Financing. This
financing tool allows the City to provide financial assistance to a
qualifying business by capturing the increase in taxes on a property because
of the development or redevelopment activity, and utilize these funds to
help the business defray costs.
While the Long Lake EDA is technically a separate Board from the City
Council, the EDA's power is derived by the authority that the Council
bestows upon it. The EDA Board's membership consists of seven members
appointed annually. Four of these are City Council members, two are
members of the Planning Commission, and one member position is held by a
resident of Long Lake.
For additional information relative to the role of the Long Lake EDA or if
interested in appearing before the Board with an application for
consideration, please contact City Administrator Terrance Post (EDA
Executive Director) at 952.473.6961.

The members of the Long Lake EDA are:
Randy Gilbert, Mayor (City Council Member)
Sharon Henderson (City Council Member)
Brian Carpenter (City Council Member)
Liz Olson (City Council Member)
Lauren Hoen (Planning Commission Member)
Art Loosen (Planning Commission Member)
Tom Kvale (Long Lake Resident Member)

Long Lake City Hall Council Chambers. Meeting agendas are posted on
the Long Lake City Hall and Long Lake Post Office bulletin boards at least
